Steven is a graduate of Brigham Young University-Idaho having completed a Bachelor of Communication degree with emphases in Video Production and Broadcast Performance as well as Cluster Minors in Music and Foreign Language. Steven has mentored under Troy Hinckley, Brian Howard, John Thompson, Christian Mawlam, and Ron Weekes.
In June 2014, Steven received the Award of Excellence for Public Affairs/Community Service from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for his directive video work on the Southeast Idaho United Way PSA campaign.
Steven has also partnered with several corporations during the past few years to provide large-scale marketing plans and creative content services in order to help these companies improve their corporate image and web presence.
Besides doing occasional freelance work in the community, Steven was also the Producer of Latter-day Profiles which is a television talk show (now in it's 30th season) produced at BYU-Idaho that airs on BYUtv on Sunday evenings.
During his last two semesters at BYU-Idaho he worked as a Student Video Director for Soapbox Agency located on the BYU-I campus and directed successful video ad campaigns for United Way of Southeast Idaho and Avantguard Monitoring Centers based in Ogden, Utah. He also organized and directed two large video projects for the BYU-Idaho Department of Music -one of which ("Celebrating 30 Years") has been distributed on DVD.
Steven produced his first feature-length film entitled The King of Instruments in 2013. Theatrical screenings were held in Rexburg, Salt Lake City, and at the LDS Film Festival in Provo. The documentary was subsequently released on DVD and Blu-Ray with an accompanying CD Soundtrack.
He also directed a short film entitled "The Call" which was debuted at Fat Cats Cinema 6 in Rexburg, ID on April 9, 2014 in conjunction with the COMM 365 Short Film class.
For 2019, Steven plans to film and release his second feature-length documentary as well as spearhead a joint production that will be unveiled in September. He is also busy helping his peers produce their own movies and mentors other graduates/undergraduates in their filming endeavors.
Steven also maintains a blog "The Feral Filmmaker" to share what he has learned on his journey to becoming a professional artist.
